Growing & Maintenance Tips for Hemerocallis 'Purple de Oro'
Daylilies will grow in just about any type of well-drained soil. They prefer full sun but are able to grow even in full shade, although will produce fewer flowers in full shade. The use of deadheading these flowers serves only a cosmetic purpose, it will not promote rebloom. Sheering may be used at the end of the season to take the plants back to 6-8 inches from the ground, but it is important to keep the plants moist after shearing or regrowth may not occur. Daylilies are tough and drought tolerant of neglect due to their thick roots that are able to store water. Division may be utilized every 4-5 years in order to keep the plants fresh.
